Have you been blogging on Tumblr? While it is undoubtedly a good Weibo platform, it has some limitations, especially when you compare it to most other content management systems and blogging platforms. If you want your blog to climb to another tall building, then we suggest moving it to WordPress.
Tumblr gained a lot of appeal when it was first released. And it is still used by popular websites such as industrialists. But according to Google’s trend, it has been declining over the past five years. According to W3Techs, only 0.1% of websites use it, while WordPress is used by more than 43.3% of websites.

In August 2019, Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com) acquired Tumblr from Verizon. For now, however, the Tumblr brand will remain independent.
Therefore, WordPress is a good choice for blogs, because it is an easy platform to learn, has a lot of support, and you have your content. Not to mention you can do what you want with thousands of third-party plug-ins and themes.
If you’ve been blogging on Tumblr for a while, you may have built a huge blog profile. Don’t worry, you don’t have to lose any jobs when you transition to a more advanced blogging platform. You can easily import Tumblr into WordPress.

Option 1-Import content from Tumblr to WordPress
Import is a simple process, and it usually takes only a few minutes for you to start building your blog on your own platform. Here’s how to do this step by step.
We always recommend backing up your WordPress site before doing any type of import work. In this way, if there is a problem, you can easily roll back.

From the WordPress dashboard, enter the tool → to import. From this page, you can choose to import several different platforms. Click install now under the Tumblr option. This plug-in is actually developed by the WordPress team and contributors. It can import posts, drafts, pages, and media (audio, video, and picture posts).

Then click “run importer”.

Before you can import your Tumblr blog, you must create a Tumblr application that acts as a connection point between your WordPress site and Tumblr’s server. Importing the Tumblr page will prompt you to visit the following URL: http://www.tumblr.com/oauth/apps.

To create an application, enter your Tumblr application and click the green “Register application” button.

To register, you need to fill in the following information:
- Application name
- Application website
- Default callback URL
- Application description
- Administrator contact email
The remaining fields can be left blank. The instructions on the Import Tumblr page of the plug-in will provide you with the URL of the application site and the default callback URL (usually only your full domain name). After filling in the information, click Registration at the bottom of the application.

Note: the rate of newly registered applications is limited to 1000 requests per hour and 5000 requests per day. If your application needs more requests during these two periods, you will be able to request that the rate limit be removed after completing the registration process.

The page to which you are redirected will have your OAuth consumer key and secret key. Add these to the import Tumblr page of your WordPress dashboard, and then click “Connect to Tumblr”.

Click “Authorize the Application”.

Then you will be transferred to Tumblr. They will ask you, “Is it alright for this application to access some of your data and make posts to your account?” Click “Allow”.

Then you will see the Tumblr blog related to your user name and email address, as well as the number of posts that will be imported. Then you can specify a different author, if you want. When you are ready to import your Tumblr blog posts, click “Import Blog”.

It may take a while to import your Tumblr blog, depending on how big your profile is. The import process takes place in the background, so you can go back to the “Import Tumblr” page to check the progress of the importer. Once all your blog posts are imported, they will be listed on your WP Management → article dashboard.

WordPress also allows you to clear your Tumblr account information when you are finished. Just click “Clear Account Information”.

This will not affect any posts you may have imported, but it does allow you to start over or import another blog. If you try to import the same blog, any duplicate posts will be skipped. Don’t forget your SEO. If you change our domain name, you will want to set 301redirection from Tumblr to WordPress.
